Sydney Airport pilots facial recognition technology Qantas passengers can quickly check-in

Sydney Airport announced on Thursday that it will cooperate with Qantas to enable a facial recognition technology to enable passengers to check in faster. "Throughout the process, passengers can use their faces to complete the operation, eliminating the hassle of passports and boarding passes," Geoff Culbert, the airport's CEO, said in a statement. In short, in the future, travellers will not need to look for passports in large bags, because the "voucher" is on your face.

This new technology speeds up check-in, baggage checking, entering breaks, and boarding.
Australia is currently using SmartGate facial scanning technology to electronically analyze passenger passports entering and leaving the country, and Canberra Airport is piloting facial recognition software for international travelers.
Qantas Chief Customer Officer Vanessa Hudson said:
Airlines need to provide a faster and more convenient airport experience, and we are pleased that Qantas' trial has yielded positive results. In addition, employees in the lounge can participate in the trial to provide passengers with a more personalized experience.
It should be noted that this "milestone" trial was initially only available on international flights operated by Qantas.
Although we are not ready to experience the biometric process in Australia, we are moving towards an era where 'convenience is better than security'. If the experiment is successful, it will pave the way for the future development of automatic biometrics.
Finally, the London Police Agency said on Thursday that they have not given up on facial recognition technology, although it has been shown to return incorrect matches 98% of the time.
